Ok so I have spent all day fiddling around with code.
Code for the blogs.
Code for my homepage.
I found the homepage particularly tricky. Idk whats going on but linking it to my style.css file isn't working properly (like its getting the layout halfway there but not the whole nine yards) so I've just decided to put my style stuff in my index.html file until I can figure out exactly what isn't working.
But!!!
I do know exactly what is working and how it is working in the index file so thats really so much further than I ever thought I'd be. I fully thought I'd be copy-pasting css and styling code blindly into files until i found something that semi-worked for as long as i'd use this website but I'm really really happy to be where I am atm.
Obviously I'd like to keep refining the homepage until it looks a little more home-y I suppose. I'd love to add maybe a profile picture of myself and some background music. In terms of other pages for the site I'd love to have a photo wall and like a music review section. Another big thing I'd love to do is a log page. I'm moving to Germany in September to work as an English language assistant for the academic year and I'd love to keep a log about that seperate to my blog. Like with mostly German or teaching related stuff.
I really really can't believe how this page has come on in a week tho. From just having a background in my blog, to the table that was too big, to the day where I was too beyond to even figure out how to code the stylistics to this, where I now have a consistent css file set up for my blogs for the forseeable and they're all going to look lovely and uniform. I'm so so happy! Couldn't have done it at all without codecademy dragging me along like a tempermental and uninterested child.
I've also been getting a lot of help and having fantastic fun on the melonland forums. Everyone is so helpful and the conversations are sooo lovely and also the (?)founder(?) of the site is Irish (yuppa!!) If this is what the internent was like back in the day, then I curse every single corporation for making it the evil, soulless, engagement pit that it is today.
On a separate note, not web-related, it was hot as balls today. Me personally tho, I'm a summer gal. I'll take being a bit sticky and sweaty over being any sort of cold every day of the week. I hate hate hate hate hate being even a little chilly. I've been enjoying the nice weather. I went to Athlone the other day where one of my friends goes to college and it was soooo beautiful. We sat outside at this park on the Shannon under these balmy trees and it was like a summer's day from a movie.
Please god many more sunny summer's days to come.
