Back again

I'm back again to scourge the internet.

I have fully been doomscrolling Instagram all day (yes even with a scrollblocker on), watched innumerable youtube videos and scrolled tumblr a bit too.

I did go out for lunch with my mam, nana and sister though, and I was texting my boyfriend and another friend over the course of the day too, so maybe I didn't waste the day as fully as I thought.

Plus I did start my cert of good conduct for Germany, which is definitely also productive.

It's not just about measuring productivity though, it's about making good use of my time.

Like I have spent the last two weeks balls to the wall working at a summer camp, which was equal parts crazy, exhausting and great fun. I wanted to take today to rest, but I want to make good use of my rest time is what I'm saying. I want to feel like I've done something nice for myself in resting, like reading or working on this website, not just mindlessly scrolling, which makes me feel more fatigued and braindead than I was when I would have started.

I think I'll turn on the feature on the scroll blocker app that prevents me from scrolling the homepage too and just leave insta for posting, stories and texting.

Speaking of trying to escape the algorithm though, I told my boyfriend about my neocities site and he also started his own(click the link and you'll quickly see that I'm his muse ;]) He's a comp sci major so he seems to be breezing through it no problem. He's said HTML is certainly easier than whatever other coding language he's using in college anyway. I'm so glad that we're doing this together; means we can motivate eachother to keep up this hobby and learn from each other too.

I'm still working on the website layout and general vibe; you can probably see the change in the background from the last couple of blogs to now.
Plus, I want to add more pictures and stuff to the home page to make it a nicer landing spot. Still a lot of work to be done, and I think it would be easier if I could see in my mind's eye what I'm really going for. Maybe I'll sit down someday when I've a bit of time and take the time to think and draw out what I want to do.

Aside from website stuff, I've had a really fun last couple of weeks. I was working at that summer camp with a friend from college, plus a few people who I was friends with from last year. It can be quite stressful at times dealing with teenagers every hour of the day, every day for two weeks, but on the whole we had a really lovely class of kids this year, so they were very little hassle overall. Plus my coworkers were really nice so that certainly adds to the fun of the experience. Plus I was staying in my boyfriend's end of the country, so when I had some time off we would hang out together. I often got to see his family, which was nice. He has a huge family and a little baby nephew who is just the cutest, and I don't get to see them often on account of the fact I live about two hours away, so getting to see them is a lovely opportunity to get to know them all better.

On my last day down there we went for McDonalds breakfast (tasty). I'm going to miss the sausage and egg McMuffin when we hit the continent. The one I had when I was down with my boyfriend was the tastiest I'd had in a while. At the same time though I'm really excited to buy my own groceries and make meals for me and him (not in like a tradwife way, in like a kitchen control freak kinda way).

That's the next big thing on the list now. I won't feel the time going before the two of us move. I have a friend's birthday party this weekend, my mam's birthday in two weeks time, and my boyfriend's birthday the following week. Plus all the admin stuff that I've still to do and packing and prep list to tick off. To put it in perspective for myself, I have three gigs left in the pub with my sister and her boyfriend. I think I'm really going to miss that when I go abroad. I love playing Irish music, and I think I'm going to really miss Irish culture in general. Money aside, I really hope I can still go back to that gig when I come home next year because I've been really blessed to get an opportunity to work at something I love doing. I'm really excited to spread some Irish culture in my school in Germany too, and I'm praying I'll get the chance to work with a music group too.

That's all for today. I do have a heap more that I could say but it's lowkey overwhelming all the stuff I could put down, and I just wanted to get back into the habit of maintainting the blog so...

Sin é!
